the vortex is nothing. the vortex is everything. the vortex cannot be explained. the vortex is cannot be obtained. the vortex is a paradox. the vortex is an oxymoron. the vortex is way of thinking. the vortex is a way of learning. the vortex is a way of being. the vortex is always half-full, and half-empty. the vortex is a way of treating others. the vortex is the way we choose to enjoy ourselves. the vortex of chaos has a an amateur radio call sign: K4VOC the vortex is fellowship. a group of congruous ham radio enthusiasts came together one day in an effort to rise above the usual normality and boring petty antics of the hobby. sometimes showing disorganization during gatherings, we have become uneasy with calling ourselves "an organization." thus, in an effort to label an otherwise indescribable group of people, the vortex uses the term "disorganized disorganization" as its appellation. the vortex influences us to treat people like human beings, to enjoy ourselves and help others enjoy themselves, and to further the hobby of ham radio in any way to become the best we can possibly be. oh yeah...we like to eat food too. good food. we grill, broil, roast, simmer, fry, and boil. the vortex only has one rule. that rule is the "Boyd rule." simply ask any member of the vortex what the Boyd Rule is, and you will get a smile and a quick answer. however, the vortex technically has no "members." contrary to popular belief the vortex is not a cult or a group of religious or anti-religion fanatics. we are not all witches or wizards, but we think witches and wizards are cool, same as we do 160 meter 4 squares and 80 meter sterba curtains and properly cooked ribeye steaks. we do sometimes make fun of cults and religious fanatics; and anyone else really who deserves to be poked fun at. the vortex condones free thinking. we also condone good engineering practice, exceptional operating skills as well as the ability to communicate properly and efficiently. the only way to be one of us is to be one of us. for more information on experiencing a temporary coexistence with the vortex, contact the rush chairman.
